Gonna start grinding about 30 min before my lesson. Should help me get warmed up and focused.

I want to discuss a hand where i lost a big pot w/ vital myth, and make a few notes of what i feel i have been noticing at 25NL

Every one seems to be 3 betting very lite, and no one seems to be folding very much to 3 bets. I am going to employ a strategy of three betting wider for value, and seldom as a bluff. In addition, I am going to be opening much tighter than I normally would because I do not want to be 3 bet folding.

The 25NL pool seems like all the players lean toward super cally or super spazzy. Vs the spazzier people i intend to play a more pot controlly game, and vs the more cally people I intend to play more for thin value.

Got a new HEM HUD setup and it looks really tight. Working again at getting better at micro stakes rush poker. So far there is no doubt that if i creatively value bet and steal tiny pots (like 3-5bb pots) it should be really +ev. My big bluffs are never working. I think before running any big bluffs i need very individualized reads to make it happen.

I'm sitting on my couch and i listening to comedy. I'm in good spirits and ready to really play a concentrated 10NL session.

Had a very relaxing and good weekend. Talked w/ my girlfriend who i love very much on the phone quite a bit, and partied w/ my Ecuadorian friends down town.

My life feels well in balance. I studied today, cooked for the week, feel caught up on all my work, and feel very well rested. I think i am mentally in a place where I will be able to put in a solid session today.

Here is the first post of what will be my poker journal.

Started the day out feeling motivated and good about poker. I played a good session today, w/ a lot of lite 3 betting in pos vs MP and LP openers. This has been very successful.

Here I like my small turn bet. I keep in hands like AT KT JT 9T and 99.

I think my turn call is marginal at best. he is certainly doing it for value and never doing it w/ JT or 9T. He at worst probably has AT or KT or a bluff.

My river call is the most abysmally bad thing I could do. When I call turn I am repping that I have a very strong top pair at worst. I highly doubt villain is bluffing me here on river and I only beat a bluff. Time to fold river.

Any way, I am going to finish laundry, clean my kitchen, and watch a calculus video before bed. If i get all that done I think i'll put in another 20-30 min session before grinding calc all day tomorrow.

I've had a pretty crappy month, but am up about 1K total on the month. I prefer to make a minimum of 2K-3K excluding rakeback/ bonus, but I ran/played very poorly I think. I just finishd my coaching deal with vital myth, so now all my profit is mine to keep. I want to get some sweat sesssions with some other CR members going on that play 100 and 200NL. I think I could stand to learn a few things still.

I finally found a girl I am attracted to and it is the most +EV thing that has happened to me in a while. She deals cards at a casino, so it is perfect for me. I get to make money and talk with her all at once.

Talk about +EV. I am going back to the casino once again today because it is so plus EV. Fish plus a beautiful women = major bank. I love it. Not to mention I skooled some fish last night for like 300BB ship it. It kina sucked though cause when she was dealing I lost like 40-50$ so I didn't get to impress her with taking down a monster pot and then making a very -EV tip(I literally think I would have tipped her like 15$ or something stupid like that). As it stands I tipped the dealer a dollar. I think it was a fat man......so a dollar is enough I think. I also tipped the cocktail waitress a few times (I'm so nice)

Yeah, coaching has been going very will with Vital Myth(Corwin Cole). I moved up to 200NL and won a bunch, and then got smacked down. Moved back to 100NL and then switched sites to play at aboslute.Their bonus/vip progaram seem very much worth my while, and even though the software totall sucks, it is very +ev to play there. I face stomp regs, and the short stack fish there. My results have not shown this as of they as I have been running exceptionally bad as of late and over the last 16K hands have been running at just over 1ptbb/100. Hopefully this can improve and I can get a BR of 10K and then play 200NL on absolute. Hopefully that goes well for me. I will try to update this more often. I am sure that since i stopped posting I have lost every reader I possibly could have had. LOL. Hopefully I can woo you back.

Poker is a funny thing. I am running like shit at 100NL 6 max. i up only like 1 buyin over like 9K hands. The funny thing is that HU 100NL I am running quite good. Up 700$ over 700 hands. Grrr...but here are a few interesting hands that have come up

Strange hand. Deep stacked so i have implied odds to call. Flop comes down dry so I bet. Villian is a total nit, so i figure he may sometimes fold under pairs, and AQ. My bet has some value. After his call, i decided just to check it down.

I played pretty bad for a day or two and got in the mode where i thought every one was bluffing me. Got annoyed and stacked off a few times....grrr. Now my Br is at 3643. Before I started playing badly I was very close to 4K. I am glad I recognized the problem and that i did not play much those days when I wasn't feeling it.

Had a pretty good session in the afternoon, and then a pretty bad on when i got back from work. All in all up about 1.5 buyins on the day. Finally out of my 100NL slump and am winning for 2/bb for 5000K hands. I guess this is better than -3 buyins :)

all in all, since I have started again, I have been met with success. A few tournament scores, and some good cash game play have brought me back. The CR challenge i participated in was a bit rough, but now my BR on ftp stands at about 3.3K. It would be higher, except for that I have been bonus whoring UB a bit, and thus have split my play equally between them. Regular updates to follow

I have decided that i know what my biggest leak is as of recently. I used to play super nit and 10 table the micro games. Now i have gone to less tables and am learning to adapt my style according to the players i play against. Since I was used to playing so many tables my main goal was to sustain a small win rate, make money, and make tons of money with bonus and rake back. This has actually worked for me, but now my main goal is to play better poker. This has had the revers effect of me not paying full attention to the players at my tables. I then foolishly attempt plays against them with out sufficient information. This naturally makes me loose some money. My earn is still positive, but i could be doing much better for myself if i just paid more attention. So, here is my plan for playing from now on.

First: make sure i am feeling really good
Second: only open 2-4 tables to start, depending on how i feel
third: move up to 6 tables as i get solid reads on the players who i am with currently
fourth: drop tables if i feel my focus decreasing.
fifth: stop playing if i start caring about money.....the sole focus needs to be on me making perfect choices.

I will be posting much more often. I indend to post at least 2 times a week now.

Stopping the Coaching

Today I have quit my coach. I have lost a ton of money since I have been with him, and frankly I am frustrated. He never shows up on time, cancells lessons with virtually no notice, and has not taught me anything useful about the game of poker. All the lessons i have had have been about tilt control. I can get free advice in the forums about that instead of paying forward 60$ an hour. I can not justify the cost of any more lessons with him as he does not teach me to make more money, but teaches me virtually nothing I can't get for free. These lessons have been a drain on my bankroll and probably have affected my game in a very bad manner. Therefore I quit. And I NEVER quit anything. I always have to be the best, I am not a quitter or a failure. I always strive to excell, but this cost me an entier nights sleep and I hate quitting, but it is the wise thing to do. It is like stopping a loosing session. Somtimes you just have to do it.

I have checked my stats at cash, and have decided that I am at best a break even player. I have lost 2K this month playing .5/1. I won 1K the first weekend, lost it, and am down 1K, so total i have lost 2000$. I started loosing badly when i started getting coached. I wonder if the two are correlated.........

I have had a few good tournamet scores, and am playing well again. I just needed to take the pressure off. At the beginning of the month i started a cardrunners challenge and the swings have been crazy. On the first weekend i won almost 1K. Now i am only up like 287$. I am playing .5/1$ NL now as my BR is big enough. My 50NL stats are green now so I am pretty happy. I will continue to update.

Just a quick update. BR is at 864 now. It feels so good to be winning. I won about 43$ on top of that playing 2/4 Limit Omaha at my favorite Omaha fishing pool, so all is looking good. It feels great to be winning again. A big thanks to PrincessDonk for always sweating me and reassuring me that I made the right play, whether it lead to me getting stacked, or making a big laydown. I played full ring holdem today thanks to princessdonk. I ran so well it is unreal. Up 97$ over 500 hands. i ran at 47BB/100. My BR is 832 now after loosing a strech of sit n goes. I think I am done playing sit n goes at full tilt from now on. They play at a much higher level that any 11$ sng should, and i can make major bank playing at stars or another site.

Well, my rake back dropped today leaving me basically even. I now have 925$ total. If i decided, for some reason not to play at all for the next month on ftp,my rakeback alone would put at over 1K total, so i guess i am doing slightly better than break even right now. i am also on a MTT Sng rampage. I have played 4 in the last 2 days. On FTP i played a 5$ one and got 5th, and on stars i played 2 180 mans and placed 9th and 11th respectively. On my final table stars sng, KK got cracked by TT and sent me to the rail. and on the one where i bubbled, I made a mistake. I tried to resteal with AQ against a medium stack who I knew had tons of fear of busting out on the FT bubble. It was the most agressive he had been and he made his raise from EP, so i foolishly decided to try to resteal. needless to say, it didn't work and i ran into QQ. But my loss was not in vain. I learned something about my game and in the future i plan to implement what i have learned.

My BR is now 1027$. I plan to 6 table for the moment, and play a mix of 25$ NL and 50$NL in order to reduce my variance. This will in turn lower my profits, but for now, until i get up to about 1.5K, or until i feel totally comfortable again, I intend to mix the games. I also do the same things with sngs now. I play 4-6 at a time and play half 11$ ones, and half 6$ ones. I find this works wonders to reduce my variance, and i am quite happy doing it until my roll gets totally healthy again.

I played 10 6$ turbo sngs today and ITMed 7 of them WOOT!. Actually, it isn't much to get excited about, but my BR on FTP is recovering nicely. I've been running quite nicely at 25$ NL as well. My Bank roll is now 875.92. I also can't wait until the 15th, when i will get a fat 300$ rakeback deposit in my FTP account. My goal is to up to at least 1K by then, and then i will once agian be able to comfortably play 50$ Nl and 10$ sngs.

It really was quite hard to bring my self to move down after having been so successfull at 50$NL, but I am glad that i did it. My confidence is boosted, and I feel I am playing better now. Also, to top it off, i am proud of my self. I am proud i was able to leave my ego behind and drop down when i knew i needed too. Because of that, i am sure that i wont be going broke playing poker. My actually bank rool is about 2K, and that makes me happier becuase i was toying with the idea of taking some money from a stars account and moving it over to my ftp account to make up the difference lost. I decided that doing such a thing would be cheating, and now i'm glad i didn't do it.

I am also pretty happy today because i got 3rd in a stars 4$ 180 man sng for a cash of like 84$. I think it is great MTT practice, if MTTs sare your thing. i am pretty convinced that i can make that much money in about 4 hours 6 tabling 50NL though, so......i don't really know what to think.

I just recovered pretty much my inital roll on FTP. I now have 1022. I stayed up after my sick run until like 6AM. so, not all is lost. If it werent for those damn sngs i would still be up a decent bit. I'm pretty happy though, despite the beats ie(Kk vs AA 3 times one time very deep stacked) i got my second royal flush. Sadly, it wasn't as exciting as my first one. Nothing matched the exiliration and thrill of your first royal. Come to think of it, the first time of most things are best for the first time.

Your first kiss, first high, first time getting drunk, the first royal flush, and most importantly your first tourney win. The closest I have come to that is being second in chips in a party tourney when we chip chopped. i was extatic.

I remember my hands shaking as i made the biggest cash of my life. 2.5K. My roomate at the time was sweating me and he was just as excited as me. It was one of the most amazing feelings I have had in the world. For a few days i felt like i was walking on air. It was awesome.

On another positive note, I've hooked up with a few guys who play tourneys online and dicuss hands. Its great to have some friends to support me and mentor me as i grow as a poker player.

Maybe on the more negative side, i have turned into a virtual social recluse now. I really dont' have any friends here. Well, i shoudn't say that, i do have a few people i hang out with from time to time, but no extremely close friends. That has usually been the case with me. I like to build close friendships, and now it seems i spend more time with people online than i do with normal people. Its funny to think that at one point in my life i used to be a breakdancing club going person. Now I just sit at home. I think i need to be more social.......i'm gonna work on that. The problem is that i really don't like talking to people that don't have things in common with me.........grrrrrrrrrrr.

Today was a crazy day for poker. i played 1K hands and broke exactly even...well, i lost like 1$. Talk about frustrating. Then i decided to play some more a bit later, and over just 600 hands i ended the session winning 158.70 running at 9.91 ptbb/100. played 3 sngs. got second in one and lost the other two. I tried to make a vid of all three, but for some reason the audio didn't record. I'll make a vid for all you all low limit sng players when i get back. I'm going to georgia for 9 days to visit my best friends before we all go our seperate ways.

my br currently stands at 1373. I'm not doing quite as well as hookem, but it seems he hardly had a bad day playing 2K hands a day. Still have a long way to go, but all is going well. if i play at all on vacation, since it is vacation, i will only play omaha and take a break from holdem for a while.

lost 5 11$ sngs in a row today. busted out on the first one after getting 4 outed. AK vs AJ all in on the flop had a great session while getting coached by fruitypro, and then i 6 tabled and dropped 5 buyings. by br stands at 1220. All of the weeks hard work has gone to ashes. I don't know what to do. I feel totally crushed right now. I was up to 1.5K not long ago. My life is horrible and i want to die. Today i got totally smoked. By bankroll is currently 1,333. I just went on a total loosing streak in the sit n goes, and i lost like 37$ playing 50$ NL over 1K hands. I think i played well over all, it is just rough hitting a bump this early in my journey. i hope all goes well tomorrow.

i can't believe i missed posting my first day, but i was super tired and had to wake up at 500 AM.

played several 11$ and netted about a 3 dollar loss on the day. What a rough start.

Played A+ poker. 4 tabled 50$ NL and won enough to have an over all green numbers in PT so i am up 35$ playing 50$ NL

Hookem has inspired me, and so i am going to attempt the same challenge. I plan to post every day and show all my numbers and the sometimes i'll put in a graph. One thing I am going to add on to this is sit n goes. I need to play 500 at a certain level before i move up and i need to have the following bankroll for each level. I am going to start at the 10$ level until i get to 1540 and then from there i will need at least 70 buyins for the next level. I will also play MTTs because they are fun,but i will withdraw any major winnings(net win of 100$+). My starting roll is 1K, and i haven't decided what to do with my rakeback yet. I just had one of the worst cash sessions of my life. I think i played really well to only have lost as little as i did. A few really horrible hands happened to me where i stacked off hard core. one, i flopped a straight on a 2 flush board. all in on the flop villian calls with 2 ragged flush cards and spikes his flush on the river. Another one that about killed me was when i stacked off about 65$ when i had 2 pair vs a set. Along with the fact i didnn't get action with any of my big pairs AA KK and QQ got so much action preflop against one villian i chucked it PF.

He raises utg 3X(1.5) and MP calls. I raise to 7 dollars ont the button with QQ. Villiin all in to 50 dollars. I folded. I playing one cash game right now and 3 sngs i hope those go well been running horrible these last few days. yesterday i lost every coinflip i got into in the SNGS. Lost almost every time i was the favorite too. ugggg. I'm glad i'm not tilting :)

I've had some pretty good success at the low limit rebuys lately. Just in general, i've been doing good at the torneys, minus yesterday. Yesterday i played in three of the big sng multi table torneys 90 man+ and was bad beat out of all of them. Today however, i decided to play a 5$ rebuy at absolute and cashed 3rd place out of 84 for a win of 144$ and a net of 120. I rebought to 3K at the beginning, and then bought a double add on. I always take the addon if i think i have any chance of winning, and i think that i had a huge chance. As a matter of fact the final hand was my QQ vs the big stack K10. I knew i could get it all in preflop cause of the way he was getting antsy at the end. Got it in as a huge favorite and he spiked his K. Such is life. I can deal. I just love making final tables cause that is when my SNG skills really kick in.

Ok,

so once again i played 50$ NL. I started out playing like 8 tables and did horribly. I stacked off several times. one or 2 were bead beats and one was just me being stupid. Other than that, i think i played far too agressively for this level. At 50$ NL people are still quite prone to calling to lightly, and so i scaled back to 2 tables and 2 sng tournies, one at stars, and one at FT. At that point i began to own the table. Not because i was getting great hands all the time, but because i played a bit tighter preflop like 20% VPIP, and i slowed down a bit on the agression. on one table i got up to 150, and on the other i got up to 200. it is really a shame that i play best right after i have lost. I also did poorly in the tournaments. I busted out on both of them getting the best of it. On the FTP on i had 2 pair on the flop and villian had Top pair and an open ended straight draw. Went all on on the flop and he rivered the straight. In the stars, i was sitting right at 10BB and utg raised, MP pushed all in, i saw QQ and i called all in. UTG AK MP JJ Hero QQ. JJ wins with a J high straight. bummer. I think that i am really likeing those multi talbe sngs. Quick game, and i feel i have an edge. I think i will continue to play them.

Also today, i talked with the president of Screaming Eagle Poker. If you don't know, it is an army poker league that started in Iraq. I am in the Air Force, and they are looking to get the Air Force involved as well. I gotta talk to some higher ups about getting one started here on base. If all goes well, maybe i can go party with the pros and meet them, and maybe once get a glimpse of the life i am craving right now. Apparently Screaming Eagle Poker has a good number of contacts in the poker world, so this could possibly be my foot in the door. i hope all works out.

I'm playing agian today. i played about 1.1k hands of 50 and 25 NL on full tilt, and i ended up having quite an excellent session. Poker really is a funny thing because as luck would have it over the last 4K hands i have played at 50NL,i was down aout 250$. Today, suddenly, i started winning and took -250 and turned it to about +150. So, if you ask me, it was a pretty darn good session. I just think it is funny that i loose over 4K hands and then spike a big winner on just 1K hands. Actually it was a few less than that, maybe just 700 hands b/c i also played several tables of 25NL, in which i lost about 7$.

Another noteworthy thing happened today. Completely by accident i registered to a 5$ PL Omaha HU SNG. I suck at heads up, and really really suck at Omaha, but some how i managed to take it down. Well, thats it for today. I think that i'm going to add up exactly what my BR is and keep every one posted. After all, this is about my poker journey, and what better sign of progress than how much money i have

I just logged on to full tilt and i'm going to knock out a bout 500 hands or so and then play the midnight madness tourney. The games i am waiting for have uncharacteristically huge pots like in the 20$ range. I'm properly bankrolled and so hopefully i'll run and play well. I'll keep you posted

I neted 55 $ for the day. I played the full tilt midnight maddness and placed 37. my TT ran into AA all in preflop. Such is life. with an M of about 8 TT plays like the nuts. UTG raise to 4X i shoved and was called by button, but thats ok, i feel i played my A game. The 50$ NL went horribly. I mostly ran poorly but i feel that i massivly overplayed pocket AA on the turn on one hand which led to me getting stacked. I got stacked 2 other times, but i feel it was good play, and just the fact i was running poorly. Fortunently some donk doubled me up 2 times when i went in with QQ preflop. Called once with AQo and once with 88. i think with the 88 he put me in preflop. I only made like 18$ over about 1k hands. At least i didn't loose, cleared 20$ of bonus and i will get RB so all is well. I got to go to bed. See you all next time.

To tell the truth, i don't really expect any one to be reading this. But if you are, hope you share my ups and downs, my love of poker, and just my life in general. I thank you for joining me on my journey through poker. First off let me tell you a bit about myself. I have been playing poker for almost a year now, but i've only played really hardcore during these last few months. I started out witha 50$ deposit on pokerroom and lost it in a matter of hours, and then, i guess because i hate to give up on anything that i've failed at, i deposited at a prima poker skin: Crazy Vegas Poker. I got 10$ free, and i've never looked back since. I ground my way up playing .01/.02 limit and no limit games, and playing .75 sit n goes. i currently play at a number of rooms and play 25$NL and 50$ NL. I'll be sure to keep every one posted on my progress.
